As a licensed social worker and community organizer, Aftyn has spent her career exposing how corporate power and political corruption rig the system against working Tennesseans.
She knows that backroom deals and policies written by the wealthy leave working families to pay the price. Since her swearing-in on October 4th, 2023, she's fought to change that—demanding transparency, holding government accountable, and challenging corporate greed wherever she encounters it.
Whether pushing to eliminate regressive taxes that burden working families like the grocery tax, investigating threats to public assets like the Tennessee Valley Authority, or advancing legislation that prioritizes workers over corporate interests, Aftyn refuses to accept an economy that works only for the elites.
TENNESSEE POLITICS NEED A SHIFT.
The past decade of Tennessee politics has made it clear: we need voices willing to stand up for working Tennesseans and ask whether our policies serve everyday families or just wealthy interests. Right now, corporate executives write the rules while working families deal with the consequences—higher costs, fewer opportunities, and a government protecting profit margins instead of people.
Rep. Behn represents a different approach. She advocates for policies that make Tennessee more affordable and fair, demanding transparency and accountability from those in power. ABOUT AFTYN
Raised in East Tennessee, Aftyn has called Nashville home since 2017. She moved back to Tennessee determined to fight an economy rigged against working people—one where corporate power and political corruption determine who gets heard and who gets left behind. Since then, she's stood up to corporate interests and the Republican supermajority's priorities: tax breaks for the wealthy, privatization schemes, and policies that hurt working families while enriching the already-rich.
She's fighting to make Tennessee more affordable and fair—demanding transparency, holding power accountable, and organizing to bring Tennesseans together to wrestle control back from the corporations and elites who've captured state government. She shows up not just for the big fights, but for her community in the little moments in between—listening to what working families need, then fighting to deliver it.
