REP. AFTYN BEHN
TN HOUSE DISTRICT 51
State overreach
FAR-RIGHT EXTREMISM
Corporate GREED
Rep. Aftyn Behn cares loudly for your issues.
Aftyn Behn’s wealth of political experience behind the scenes and in public policy prepares her to be your State House representative. As a licensed social worker, Aftyn has spent her career working tirelessly to build a Tennessee for all and to elect Democrats up and down the ballot. As a civic leader, Aftyn’s tenacity and fearlessness demonstrate she is unafraid of the challenge the Tennessee Legislature throws her way.
Since her swearing-in on October 4th, 2023, to finish the remaining term of Rep. Bill Beck, Aftyn has held countless meetings with community groups, stakeholders, and constituents to learn what issues are important to folks who make HD51 great; she passed her first bill during the 113th General Assembly; she led the vanguard to eliminate Tennessee’s regressive grocery tax and was the House sponsor of the bill to reverse the most extreme abortion ban in the country. She’s listening, full of energy, and excited to show up and care loudly for the voters of House District 51!
TENNESSEE POLITICS NEED A SHIFT.
The past decade of Tennessee politics has shown us that we need progressive female voices in the state legislature. Tennessee needs Representatives who have a vision for a Tennessee For All and will use their position to challenge extreme politics and their resources organizing to build a “bigger and better” we.
If you want a qualified leader who will defend your freedom to be who you are, your choice whether and when to have children, and your representation in Tennessee’s democracy, you’ve found her.
ABOUT AFTYN
Raised in East Tennessee, Aftyn has called Nashville home since 2017. Moving back to Tennessee after Trump was elected, Aftyn jumped right into state politics fighting for Medicaid Expansion and against harmful GOP policies.
Since then, she has stood up to the Republican supermajority every legislative session defending abortion access and LGBTQIA rights, organizing to bring Tennesseans together to wrestle back local control from the state overreach, and showing up for her community not only for the big fights but the little moments in between.
